The P226 is one of many renowned products of the Swiss-German concern of SIG-Sauer. The P226 is basically a revised P220 with a dual-stack magazine (gun-speak for large capacity enabling the weapon to accept more cartridges) and a firing pin safety. The P226 took part in the trials to find a replacement for the venerable M1911A1 and was beaten by the Beretta M92 only on the grounds of cost. The P226 is the official side-arm of the US Navy SEALS but is also used by many law enforcement & military forces around the world. Many thanks to Sean Coughlin for supplying the photo scans below.
