Spike wields a shotgun(above) in session 26 The Real Folk Blues part 2. In this spectacular finale, Spike aptly demonstrates what years in the mafia has taught him. This is the only session where a shotgun is seen in use, with Spike kicking ass and taking names. ^_^ You would have noticed that I changed the title to 'Mossberg 500/590 Custom' and this is because I have decided to end the controversy by saying that the shotgun is likely a 500/590 derivative. This is because I went to have a look at the Mossberg website and I found that both models can be fitted with a wide variety of assessories. I am quite convinced that Spike used a customized derivative of the famous scattergun in his duel regardless whether or not it is a 500 or a 590. Regardless, I am grateful for Matt's and Kevin's input on this subject.
Erik Drotleff has reopened this shotgun issue by saying that Spike uses not a Mossberg but a Remington 870. In his own words "You can tell in the sceen where he is loading the gun it has a feed ramp found on the remington 870 but not the mossberg 500/590. You can also tell by the trigger gaurd. The 500/590 has more of a rounded over gaurd where on the 870 it slopes down".
I have included a shot of a Remington 870 for comparison so that you may judge for yourself.
I have taken a few more screen caps & he is indeed correct in that the shotgun Spike used has a sloping trigger guard (below). So it does appear to be a Remington derivative.
I would like to extend my appreciation to Josh @ FattyJ and Sally McHale for helping me obtain photos of the custom pistol grip equipped Remington 870. Your help is invaluable. Thanks again.
