We begin with Vicious, the numero uno bad guy in the show. i remember someone on the forum discussing this subject but am not able to recall the details of said discussion. of course its a katana but i will gather more information soon.

note the plain tsuba or guard,and the gilded finish of the sword sheath. how did Vicious find a scabbard maker & sword polisher in 2071?!

note the overall length of the sword. the length borders on that of the no-dachi, the Japanese long sword.

Vicious doesn't use the silken cord typically used to fasten the sword to the belt as it would likely get snagged between his longcoat and interfere with movement, not to mention sitting!

the only time Vicious wields a throwing dagger, Session 26 Real Folk Blues part two. it appears to be a late 20th century design unlike traditional Japanese throwing daggers.
